"Pagham FC - The Pride of Pagham"

Pagham 2 East Preston 0

John O’Hara Cup Round 4 13th December 2011

Two first half goals saw the Lions safely through to the John O’Hara Cup semi-finals, but East Preston can count themselves unlucky after a fiesty second half display. The Lions attacked from the off, with Alex Bryant often being the visitors savior. Not so much luck on the quarter hour as James Temple made the best of an awful defensive lash-up to score the opener. Inexplicably the ball was knocked back into East Preston’s area by an EP defender, Temple scoring with ease. Only ten minutes later and goal number two arrived. More misfortune for the visitors as Alex Bryant left the field injured with only a third of the game gone. In came Nial O’Hagan to replace him & the Lions fans expected a goal fest. No more goals before the break though. A forgettable second half began with Pip Turner replacing Neil Murfin for Pagham, Murfin injured. East Preston looked much the better side, passing the ball with ease and only missing a cutting edge to score at least a consolation goal. Pagham had chances through Ross Woolf and Scott Murfin, but the best openings went to EP’s Matt Axell & Lewis Hamilton, shooting just over the bar.
