"Pagham FC - The Pride of Pagham"

Pagham 3 East Preston 4

Pre-season Friendly 9th August 2011

Goals from Danny Simmonds, James Temple and a Scott Murfin penalty weren’t enough to beat a spirited East Preston side. Finding themselves two-nil down with less than a quarter hour gone, Pagham’s last friendly before the league opener against Ringmer on Saturday was very much a "getting rid of the cobwebs exercise. Scot Murfin's penalty gave the Lions their only goal in a half that East Preston dominated in the main, Multiple changes for the Lions at the start of the second half, and only five minutes in saw James Temple scor his first of the season, and Pagham's second. Matt Axell could have killed the game off for East Preston on the hour, but with James Binfield again excelling in goal, Pagham were just still in the game. Binfield was gaining more and more confidence with a couple of excellent saves keeping the Lions in the match. East Preston were just too quick on the pass, moving the ball around with ease, only for tiredness to take its toll as the Lions wrestled back superiority in the latter stages. Danny Simmonds scoring at the death gave the Lions hope of a late late ralley, but its onwards and upwards to the proper stuff on Saturday against Ringmer
